Lighting
These frogs do not need the tank to be lit to survive. Having lighting in the tank is more for your benefit. It makes it easy to see them and enjoy them. I recommend a 12 hours with the tank light on and 12 hours off.
Cleaning the Tank
I do a 1/3 water change every two weeks and vacuum the gravel at the same time. In between tank cleanings I used a baster to suck up any uneaten food and large debris. Everytime I do a water change there is three items that I always use, Stress Coat, Aquarium Salt, and KioZyme. Stress Coat removes chlorine, neutralizes chloramines and detoxifies heavy metals making the water safe for the frogs. It also replaces the natural protective slime coat and helps to remove stress. It also prevent disease and speed up a sick or injured frogs recovery time. Aquarium Salt helps to maintain your frogs optimal health and can reduce stress and speed up disease recovery. It also inhibits fungus and some bacteria due to the incresed salinity in the water. It is important to note that aquarium salt does not evaporate and is not filtered out. The only way it leaves your tank is by doing water changes. So use as directed. KioZyme is useful at preventing red leg a disease that can be deadly to your frog if not caught right away. KoiZyme needs to be shaken well before it is used and only one drop needs to be added at each water change. The light in the tank also needs to be turned out for the first five dosings. ******Please read the directions and the manufactorer's websites before using these products for proper use. Remember ignorance is not bliss.
